Teaching children the spirit of cricket.
« on: July 26, 2011, 07:40:25 AM »

I was watching the cricket with my son this afternoon when Stuart Broad let himself get carried away again. I was explaining to my son that when playing cricket, you must never get irritated, aggravated or frustrated.

 "What's irritated Dad?" he asked.

So I picked up the phone book, dialled a number at random, and a voice at the other end said "Hello?"

 "Is Bill there?" I asked.

"No, " came the bad tempered reply. "Bill doesn't live here!" and then there was a BANG as the phone was slammed down.

"See, " I said, "that man's a bit irritated now son."

"oh. What about aggravation?" my son asked.

So I dialled the same number again. The same man answered and I asked "Is Bill there?"

"NO!" he shouted. "Bill doesn't live here. Are you the same person who rang before? If you don't stop ringing I'm going to call the police!" BANG!

"Now then son, that man's aggravated now." I explained.

"Oh ok, " said my son. "What about frustrated?"

So I dialled the same number again. The same man answered. "Hello?"

"It's Bill here, have there been any calls for me this afternoon?"
