House clear out- found strange disks
« on: May 23, 2011, 06:43:20 PM »

Am curious to know what they are or were used for.

They are Philips 230MB 3.5" Magneto Optical Disks. The disk is completely enclosed, much as a floppy would have been, and have a similar write protect/enable toggle.

Not really, unless you like playing with antique equipment. :)

I've got my own antique equipment, thanks! And that doesn't work, however much I play with it! :( > ;)

It might be worth asking the National Museum of Computing, based at Bletchley Park, if they would be interested in having them.

Last year, 2010, I offered TNMoC some old equipment from my grotto and they nearly took my hands as well, such was their delight, when I delivered it. :)
