Sky netgear dg834gt

Hi folks

Im after another router and theres a lot of Sky Netgears on ebay, my question is are these lockedto sky and if so can they be unlocked with a firmware update from netgear?  My ISP is PlusNet.

Hi Sim

Yes the routers are locked to sky.

They can be unlocked but you do so at your own risk.

Info on page  =~ Can I use the sky router with another adsl service?

It is possible to use this router on another service, but to do so you need to Flash the sky firmware with standard Netgear firmware, as outlined above. 
~ Can I use standard Netgear firmware on my Sky router?

The UKOnline ones however have standard firmware and as the router has now become an optional purchase it'll stay that way I assume.

Although now the nmap scan is finished I see two open ports, both TCP (1864 and 4443). Hmm I wonder if that's what the later firmware refers to.
