I wondered about spambots but they generally don't run at weekends, for years I watched the IP list for these things and always found that the spambots shut down for the weekend.

Let's hope there is not another new malicious sign up system on the loose.

Talkling to other forum/site admins this sudden rise in "guests" appears to be linked to the "LizaMoon" SQL attack.  Admins are seeing a huge rise in visitors along with an massive rise in error log entries where malicious bots are trying to add/inject content.
