Just out of interest what is the best thing to do if this happens again.

I just restarted the computer which in this instance didn't fully work.

Is it better to reboot the router

You can always restart the computer of course, because it doesn't cost anything apart from a minute of your time. In some cases it might fix the problem. After that, a router reboot might help. If the problem still exists, then turn off the router and leave it off for half an hour - whatever caused the problem might have left you with a stale session, and a bit of unconnected time would clear this.

But these are only general suggestions, because there isn't really any one best way to deal with every internet problem.

I don't think the problem on this occasion was with o2's DNS because the pages I visited would load part of the way then hang waiting for something else to load. In other words an advert or image. Like Eric says it doesn't hurt to reboot it all, not like we are on IP profile connection.  :)

The first time it happened to me none of the browsers installed on my desk top would load any websites. On re starting my computer all was well.

The second time(yesterday) none of my browsers(FF,Opera and Chrome) would open any web pages,on re starting the pc my homepage loaded(BBC.co.uk) even though a little slowly, but many sites would not load at all.

I then restarted my pc but went out to do some shopping,on my return about an hour later I came to the pc,opened FF and all was well.

As you say Colin, being on LLU you don't have to worry about IP profiling

Hi UncleUB  :)

When it happened to me...
Found the only way to solve the problem was to Reboot Router  ::)

My Problem!
Pages...
First:  Became slow to load.
Second: Stopped loading at all.
Guess we could have just waited to see if the problem rectified itself.
But...
Haven't got the patience for that
And...
Know my teenage son definitely hasn't got the patience to put up with it.

So hard to know why or understand what's going on, when an Internet problem suddenly starts out of the blue  ???
Openreach were swarming around my area and even in my street twice last week.
