I've probably been guilty of alarming you unnecessarily, for which I apologise. This isn't an imminent problem for users, although ISPs will have to take some action fairly soon now. But I do think it's much better to be prepared, which is why I've decided to open up the issue now.

just noticed that the netgear dg834gt is adsl, it dont support adsl2+

Yes, it does, but it probably needs a recent version of the firmware.

It has for ages, I think you'd need to have very old firmware to not get ADSL2+.
