Price of a phone call(TalkTalk)
« on: February 10, 2011, 11:08:46 AM »

My mother phoned her brother(he's on BT) on 03/01/11 at 6.05pm for 19 minutes duration, and the call cost £1.33 plus vat.

Does anyone think this is excessive,as it looks to me like shes paying 6p per minute when I thought it should be free.I dont know
what package she's on,but I think she still pays £6+ for a call package of some sort.

I think she pays roughly

£14 line rental
£7 calls package
£2 caller display

She hardly uses the phone, yet her bill was £39 for the last month.

Looking at TT plans the anytime call plan is £6.31 a month

and the evening and weekend plan is £3.61,both + £12.30 line rental and any optional calling features you add

Thanks Uncle,Ive looked at that and the extra things she has is the caller display, and the voicemail
pickup from other phone,so thats £4.55 on top of the standard pack.

I'll advise her to switch to the "Essentials" pack and phone people after 7pm.

for the sake of less than £3 a month, better off getting the anytime calls then it's there without her having to worry about the costs.....the only time we go over is when mrs G-J insists on voting on reality tv progs :(

Shes old and stuck in her ways. She says she's going to stick with the International plan because she thinks that changing her package will tie her into the contract all over again.

There are many many more elderly people like that who have never switched suppliers and are over inflated tariffs, much to the delight of telecom and energy companies.
