I have been using "SpywareBlaster" (very happily) for a long time now, but the couple/few weeks it nearly always says' the server is unavailable when I try to update it. (Don't know if it's there or gone AWOL)

OF - Spyware Blaster does a different job to Spybot S&D. Keep Spyware Blaster, it's stopping nasties getting onto your system in the first place. SpyBot is mostly for finding stuff AFTER it has got in.

Re spywareblaster  Not spy- Bot s&d Make sure you have configured the internet settings, go to 'Update' on LHS
then at the top  click 'Options' then choose you connection method.

Please be aware of four bugs in the new version.

1) On start of scan it will want to search your floppy drive (if you have one) and will set it whirling with a screech.
2) If you are using Opera browser, it may fail to immunize properly in respect of known anti-Opera bad cookies. It will leave these cookies unchecked and un-immunized.
3) Again, in Opera browser, if you use the wand to store and apply passwords such as login detail for sites such as this, it will knock them out in that if you click on the "remember me for future visits" button, that instruction will be ignored....you will have to login each visit.
4) It has a tendency to put an icon of itself and a program called "Dummy" in your "open with" list.

I have gone back to the previous version until these wee points are sorted............the Spybot forum is full of good people all making the same points.

Forgot to mention the fifth of the four bugs 

If you do get the "dummy" program in the "open with" list, you may very well lose all your file associations and have to reset them in control>panel> folde options.

Floyoid, I know that not everyone is having these problems, but I did and others have.
I do not mean to criticise thep rogram, just t point out some flaws which still exist.

At least I now it's still up-and-running so updating it must be being blocked at my end.

Spybot S&D, and all these years I always thought they were a similar type program 
Although I must admit I tried it once (a long time ago) and didn't like it.

I appreciate the warnings tufted, but so far the new version hasn't caused me any problems... are the reported bugs when it runs in Vista or XP I wonder?
