bRAS / IP Profile changes
« on: January 23, 2011, 09:41:32 AM »

Gentlefolk,

Does anybody know whether the IP Profile logic has been changed generally or whether BT Openreach can fix a speed on a line with an appalling noisy performance.
The line is under investigation as it is well below its FTR and has been stuck on 350 kbps for over 2 weeks, but is nowhere near the required sync speed of 416 kbps.

Kind regards,
Walter

I don't know anything specific, but for a while there have been odd reports from people that their IP profile has remained at a higher level than is supported by their connection speed. I wonder if it's just another manifestation of a stuck IP profile, rather than any deliberate action by OR.

I had a sync rate of over 5mb to give me a profile of 4.5mb
After 6 days uptime with no issues i switched the router off to move it to the face plate and go wireless and bt kicked my snr from 6 to 12, that gave me a sync speed of 3449 but my ip profile was 4mb for a week.
then one day they kicked my profile to 1mb
I am now at a 2.5mb profile but still have a sync of 3449 so Bt must have some issues
and my wonderful isp say they cant do nothing as its a rate adaptive line
God bless them

I've now discovered that the IP profile was just stuck, until BT O used their JDSU test equipment which managed 160 Kbps so the IP profile sunk to 135 Kbps.

However we now have a situation with a test speed just higher than the recovered IP profile.

Kind regards,
Walter

Think you will find an engineer is now in control of that line and not the DLM
Thats what happened to me when i had really bad adsl problems
My speed was set to what ever it would sync at just like LLU
My sync at the time was about the same speed as that line
