Thanks to Kitz re Pingability
« on: January 18, 2011, 10:13:16 AM »

For the most part all my previous speed issues etc. have been solved by moving to xilo/uno CPW LLU but had annoying issue with ebay and a few other sites. Basically pages would hang for ages (firefox) and sometimes never fully load. Tried everything I could think of (various pcs using vista/xp, all had problems) but dimly recalled the mtu bit of kitz's site and a suggestion that making the router pingable may solve problems. Well it did! Immediately after making the router pingable ebay loads in a flash as does everything else.
Totally happy camper now.

Glad it worked for you... and thank you for letting us know :D
Theres no harm in leaving your router pingable.

There does seem to be certain parts of the CPW network that can cause MTU issues..  it may or may not be co-incidence that it seemed to start happening to CPw at about the time they 'acquired' the AOL network.
