How to remove multiple entries of printer
« on: December 25, 2010, 03:53:27 PM »

Please can anyone tell me how I can get rid of multiple entries of printers? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software / driver. It seems everytime I install the printer driver, it inislalls itself as copy1, copy2 etc. Tries using Ccleaner and also Ccleaner's registry clean function but the multiple entries of the printer still remains. I am clueless how to get rid these multiple entries. There are no multiple entries in the printer folder though.... ???

Wish everyone merry christmas and a happy new year.

I think you just select a line e.g. EPSON BXF300 Series (Copy 2) and right-click with the mouse. You should get a pop-up with a list of options. Among these options there should be Delete.
Cheers,
Peter

Try going to Start > devices & printers (or whatever your O/S says) - you can go via Control panel>Printers as well, it should open a window with All printers/devices shown.

Then simply right click on the ones you wish to delete & select delete.

Hopefully that`ll fix the problem.

Thanks Stevie. Got rid of some. The last two EPSON BX300f Series and EPSON BX300f Series (Copy 2) doesn't seem to go away no matter what I do. I get the message that device is being removed but nothing happens.

Do you think I can manually delete them (drivers / registry keys)?

OK, I got rid of all. With the last two it seems something was stuck in the print queue which I tried to delete the 'conventional' way but couldn't. This is what I found on another forum (not sure if I am allowed to post links here...so I will reproduce). (I use Windows 7 home premium)

1. Click Start.

2. Type Command.

3. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

4. Type net stop spooler then press Enter.

5. Type del %systemroot%\System32\spool\printers\* /Q then press Enter.

6.  Type net start spooler then press Enter.

This cleared the print queue and then I deleted the printers as stevie mentioned.  :)
