Zero FEC but there are others?
« on: December 20, 2010, 11:04:49 AM »

Is it unusual to have zero FEC errors, whilst a good number of HEC and CRC? Should I in any way be concerned with what these abbreviated stats from my 585 v7 show?

Uptime:   2 days, 19:52:05
FEC Errors (Up/Down):   0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down):   0 / 11,914
HEC Errors (Up/Down):   0 / 7,360

Uptime:   2 days, 21:11:39
FEC Errors (Up/Down):   0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down):   0 / 12,325
HEC Errors (Up/Down):   0 / 7,684

All other stats are normal; ADSL 2+ @7776kb/s

That implies that your connection is set to FastPath, not Interleaved. You do have a fairly significant number of errors, so unless you really need the low latency of FastPath (for online gaming) I suggest that you ask your ISP to switch you to interleaved.

Hi roseway! :) Seemingly wrong call this time: status at ISP (PN)is "interleaving is on".

Any further suggestions, please! :)

I know I said all else was normal, but just in case something there helps here is latest pic in fukk

As Eric correctly points out the absence of FEC errors suggests a Fastpath connection, so it would seem that your router is incorrectly reporting the stats, or interleaving isn't activated.

Try a router reboot, and if still no FEC errors showing query the interleaving status with PlusNet.

I'll do that. I guess the 10am-2pm slot would be best?

 :-\
BTW 585v7 does not report interleaving status, very conveneiently.
