UkOnline taken over by Sky
« on: November 18, 2010, 10:18:11 AM »

I have been with Ukonline for the last two years and I have to admit, it's been the best ISP I have been with :).  Unfortunately, sky have taken it over :( and left me with little choice but to go with them.  This is because my local exchange only offers BT >:((been there, never again), Orange,Tiscali, Talk Talk or Sky.

I have heard that sky make you use their own routers, is this true and can I get around it as I have two Netgear dg834g v3,s and a BT 2 wire 2700hgv.  I would rather use my Netgear than the router Sky provides as I don't trust their motives.

It's true that Sky (try to) make you use their router (it's supplied with the username/password pre-installed and they never tell you them).  I have been using a non-sky netgear router for years now with no problem, although I'm technically in breach of their terms.  I found out how to get the username and password from Sky User forums.

hope that's some help.
