switching interleve on/off
« on: October 30, 2010, 06:20:50 PM »

Hi
I am using Netgear dg834G V4 . Whilst having a look at the various "adslctl" commands I used "adslctl connection --up" it didn't seem to do anything . When I looked at Routerstats I noticed that the WAN connection uptime had been reset (not PPoA). Subsequently I noticed that the US interleave was off . DS still on . So the question is

is "adslctl connection --up" a toggle command  switching US interleaving on/ off  and "adslctl connection --down" for switching DS interleave on/off.
Regards Jeff

According to a rather old Broadcom CLI manual (which I don't officially have):

Options for the connection command
adsl connection [--up] [--down] [--loopback] [--reverb] [--medley] [--noretrain] [--L3] [--tones <xmtStart xmtNum xmtMap rcvStart cvNum rcvMap>]

--up
Starts ADSL connection in normal mode

--down
Puts ADSL PHY in idle mode

('adsl' is the original name for 'adslctl'. I think adslctl is a Netgear-specific change)

Hi

Thanks for the reply so that must have been a coincidence that the upstream interleave went off .

I was under the impression that this is only achievable from the DLM, not the router.

Im not 100% certain, but that would not be too unexpected as you reset the adsl connection (not necessarily sync) which is the WAN side.
It would not however have any bearing on interleaving which as Mick says, is part of the DLM profile and cant be altered without intervention by BTw or other carrier provider.
