Connection problem?
« on: October 30, 2010, 10:54:18 AM »

I've got a Belkin dongle (F5d7050) on my pc, nVidia wireless controller Asus  mobo., O2 router TG585v7 software rel. 7.4.20.5 (not the most recent). X/P SP3.

When I start my pc it fails to connect to the router, I have to open the Belkin software and press "apply change" it then connects and everything is fine why does it do this?My laptop connects everytime.

signal strength ......85/86%

speed.... 54mbps

The icon on the task bar says connected even when its not ,the icon (a little screen) is not lit initially.

I notice that WINS address is missing, DNS is router address, all addressing is automatic (assigned by DHCP).

Any ideas?

regards.

Check that you are using the latest driver for your dongle.  You may also want to remove any Belkin wireless management software (if any is installed in addition to the driver) and use the native WinXP wireless network connection facility.
