Channel 4 on demand - says the PC is located outside the UK
« on: October 16, 2010, 02:00:47 PM »

Hi,
My nephew just told me that he can't use "Channel 4 on demand" any more http://www.channel4.com/programmes/4od
Its telling him he's located outside the UK. He's not - he's in Kent, with Pipex as his ISP.
He claims it all worked OK some weeks ago. And BBC iPlayer is working fine.
http://whatismyipaddress.com/ identifies him as in the UK.

whois shows his address being in a block registered to Tiscali UK.
inetnum:        88.108.0.0 - 88.111.255.255
netname:        DSL-TISCALI-UK
descr:          Tiscali UK Ltd
descr:          Milton Keynes
descr:          Dynamic DSL

Is it a Pipex problem or a Channel 4 problem?
Seems odd that BBC iPlayer is happy, but Channel 4 isn't.

I had a similar problem that BBC iPlayer thought I was outside the UK when I went onto LLU
with a static address. My ISP, ADSL24, got it sorted within a couple of days.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi geep,

I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago when using the BBC iPlayer. I eventually got it to work OK, but I'm not really sure what caused the problem. I also am resident in the UK, using Plusnet.

Go figure !!!
