Strange DMT snrm Traces
« on: October 08, 2010, 01:59:41 PM »

Guys,

out of curiosity, I wondered if anyone had seen traces like this from DMT before, and knew what caused them ??

Both times this happened, I had no loss of sync, no change of IP address, and from what I can remember no change of backhaul point. As you can see from the dates, they're also a fair way apart (i kept the first one coz it was odd, and the second I picked up on as I'm monitoring my line 24/7 after the recent switch to ADSL2+)

One thing I thought of was maybe it was the DMT equivalent of when RouterStats doesn't get the router input and the trace dives, but it seems to happen over too long a period. The other was some kind of switchover/routine/whatever within the DSLAM.

Anyone got any ideas ???

Are you referring to the dip at 657 kHz? That's the frequency of Radio Wales (Wrexham) and Radio Cornwall (Bodmin).

Hi eric,

no, I'm not referring to the dreaded 657kHz dip - I'm from Wrexham and am fully aware I'm pretty much on top of the transmitter site  >:(

No, it's the wierd flatlining of the snrm trace, followed by the dip, then more flatlining, before settling down to normal behaviour again. The third graph on each screenshot. Looks like a "T" on the snrm trace.

Oh, by the way, do you still have that link to the radio mast sites?? Thought I'd saved it, but can't seem to find it now :(
