Changed to Bt Broadband
« on: October 04, 2010, 08:17:37 PM »

After changing my ISP to BT I am not receiving all the posts from my Yahoo groups, just the occasional ones.  I checked the groups to make sure there were posting and sure enough there a plenty, but not to my new email address which I've checked as the primary email address in eac h case.
The same thing happens to my wife's  laptop.

I'd like to know if it is a problem with BT or Yahoo, can anyone help please?

Hi Peter,

I don't know too much about this but I know one of my groups moderators posted that Yahoo were having problems with their servers and messages weren't coming through properly or only in dribs and drabs.  Maybe that is the problem with yours too so you could ask on your groups just to check.  Can't be of more help than that but I do know Yahoo is/was having probs.

Have you changed the Email settings POP and SMTP to match the new (BT) provider?

Receiving = POP
Sending = SMTP

So if not getting mail look at POP settings and if not able to send look at SMTP.

Try sending a Email from your new BT account to the same new BT account to make sure it is working.

I started out with a BT internet email address a long time ago. They then incorporated it with Yahoo, so I finished up with a BT account and a Yahoo account. Both using the same mail servers. So I would expect the situation to be the same as I still have all the Yahoo facilities as well as the Bt email facilities. The BT email address and the Yahoo addresses are available by using mail.btinernet.com as the mail server.
Putting it into a nutshell you should be able to access your Yahoo account via your BT account.

Hi Peter,

Some users have been experiencing intermittent email delivery issues, which seem to arise from Yahoo upgrading their servers.

However, only a small number (less then a dozen) have reported problems.

As Group Owner, I have advised the Yahoo maintainers of the problem but I do not expect a response. Yahoo's like that.

The Group is still fully operational and open for business.

Thankyou for supporting the Vale Royal Group
