Cranberries
« on: September 22, 2010, 08:08:18 PM »

Hi all,
I've got some cranberry plants in the garden with some fruit on, and was wondering when to harvest them.
Some of them are dark red, and some are only red on one side.
Anyway, whilst browsing I found this site which shows how cranberries are harvested commercially.

Amazing.
Now I need to figure out how to flood my garden.
Cheers,
Peter

Peter  ;D  I think the reason they flood the crop is so that the fruits  are easier to get off the bushes .....  I'm not sure I'd go to those lengths  ;D  Once the berries are a nice dark red (usually end of September in the UK I would think) they are ready and the beauty of them is that you can freeze them straight away and use them as and when.    I don't grow them, but I buy them fresh (when the hard work's been done  ;) ) and then open freeze them to keep them separate, put them in a large bag then I can just pour out as many as needed.   :yum: :)
