2Wire 270x documentation
« on: August 29, 2010, 10:36:04 AM »

Gentlefolk,

I've found this article which does at least provide some explanations for the generic device, rather than the BT business Hub specifics.
I've yet to locate the state (error ?) numbers.

http://www.dslreports.com/faq/amfaq/2.8_2-Wire_Home_Portal

Kind regards,
Walter

I've yet to locate the state (error ?) numbers.
I suspect that the State numbers shown as a ratio on the managment page (of older firmware) on the stats above the bitloading diagram refer to states of the DLM module at the exchange.  I do not know what they mean though.

PS.  My local exchange has a G.DMT Annex A Alcatel chipset and the State numbers are:  229/103

I've just checked my state numbers. My exchange equipment is the same as Mick's, and the state numbers are currently 236/104, and the items above it, referring to previous connections which have exited, are all 237/104. So it looks as though the first number is incremented when the connection exits.

Thanks gentlemen,

We still are some way from defining the sets of numbers. I also confirm the first number is incremented after the connection has been dropped.
The error "State Timeout" is always produced if a remote soft boot is executed.

I have recorded the following sets of numbers, but can't correlate them except to suggest that the different errors definitely change the numbers and the DSLAM type possibly affects them as well.
EDIT :- However the ADSL Mode (G DMT Annex A or G DMT2+ Annex A) does  not seem to affect the numbers.

G DMT Annex A TI DSLAM 90/37 with Inconsistent signal, 106/41 with Inconsistent signal, 237/104 Loss of Signal Limit, then 236/104 when it eventually synchronised
G DMT Annex A TI DSLAM 108/46 with CRC mismatch, then 237/104 with loss of signal limit, 90/37 Inconsistent signal, 106/46 State Timeout (prob. re-boot), 90/37 then 111/51, then 90/37 all with Inconsistent Signal, then 237/104 with loss of signal limit again and 236/104 when it eventually synchronised
G DMT Annex A TI DSLAM 106/41 with Inconsistent signal, then 236/104 when it eventually synchronised
G DMT Annex A TI DSLAM 237 then 236/104 with loss of frame or signal limits on three different lines, one capped at 576** and the others on Max
** Earlier on Max with this line G DMT Annex A TI DSLAM 108/46 CRC Mismatch, 230/105 Loss of Signal Limit, 24/18 Error internal, 27/20 State Timeout (Prob reboot), 230/105 Loss of Signal limit, 230 then 229/103 when it synchronised
G DMT Annex A "Unknown" DSLAM 230 then 229/103 with loss of frame or signal limits
EDIT to add next line:-
G DMT Annex A TI DSLAM 108/46 with CRC Mismatch, then 99/40 before it was disconnected without sync.

On O2's service
G DMT2+ Annex A Broadcom DSLAM 223/93 Inconsistent signal then 236/104

On a Tiscali capped service
"Unknown" Mode "Unknown" DSLAM 24/18 Error Internal, then
"Unknown" Mode Globespan DSLAM 27/20 Error Configuration, then
G DMT Annex A Globespan DSLAM 236/104

Kind regards,
Walter

Hi Walter,
For info, my exit codes don't seem to be changing much here on BT2700HGV • Software:  4.25.23
ISP is ADSL24/Murphx/C&W LLU.
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks very much Peter,

It may be there were still bugs in the V 4 firmware but I note that the same error codes can have different descriptions and vice versa.
I'd guess that exit codes are telling us something different from the descriptions.

Kind regards,
Walter
