I flashed a Sky DG834GT and installed the DGTeam fw about a year ago using this walk through

I need to do another one now and have 2 quick question please since I cannot fully remember how I did it last time.

1. I wanted to use the DGTeam fw (which I also did last time). Now from a safety point of view is it best to flash the router initially with the Netgear fw.

2. Once the Sky DG834GT is back to Netgear fw, then upgrade the fw to DGTeam. To upgrade to the DGTeam fw, do I do so via the Netgear interface or do I have to run the whole process as above with the DGTeam fw in the Recovery folder (if you see what I mean).

If you're starting off with a Sky branded router, then it's generally recommended to flash it with the Netgear firmware first, as described in the link you included above. After that, you might be able to upgrade it to the DGTeam firmware using the web interface, but it might fail and leave you with a pretty brick. So it's recommended to use the same procedure as before. Actually the best option if you have access to a Linux machine is to use the nftp utility, as described on the DGTeam site.

Indeed, several people seem to have problems with loading the latest firmware, which is larger then before.

Personally I haven't; the web interface works OK for me, but I use an old slow basic XP system to do the job.

Use the Netgear utility and netgear firmware then:

Do a factory reset >> install DGteam firmware (not the latest) versions 12 or 14 >> do another factory reset.

Then start configuring it as normal.

If you cant find the firmware we may be able to help.

I have also loaded up the 1018 using the built in updater but the firmware has bugs so I reverted back to older version 1012 as have others here.
