Some very good answers this week and it could be a close call so here is a tie breaker:

Tie Breaker.
In what year was Spencer Perceval, the only British Prime Minister to be assassinated (so far), killed?

Nearest to the year.
dave

I don't know that either  :-[   but I'll guess 1895 (you did say nearest century didn't you  :D)

That reminds me of my first Current Affairs lesson, age 15, we were given 10 questions about the Government and who was secretary for what etc... and I didn't know any   Luckily the teacher didn't pick on me to answer, I was sinking lower and lower in my seat during the entire lesson.

Good quiz this week Dave, I knew some answers and with a little bit of help from my other half, could answer most of them.

As the answers are already mostly here, I'll continue to just watch.

I knew the Quakers answer because hubby was educated at a Quaker School  .............   and he does like his oats   :P :-[

Did you do any where good for the therapy ?   :)

Hi Kate,

Try and get him onto porridge and oats alternately - it'll improve his stamina.....  ;) ;D

I went to a small convent near Woces ... Worcis ..... Worcess ...... the place the sauce that's not Heinz ketchup comes from.  They accept severe cases on a short term basis and the family managed to have a holiday whilst I was 'inside'.  You can do basket weaving, bonsai pruning, bingo and a tea dance all in one day. Very relaxing!  ;D ;)

We were due to be there for two weeks, but didn't want to get stuck on the M5 car park.

One of the funniest things is seeing foreigners (and some Brits) trying to pronounce it  :D

LOL Kitz... we have some cracking place names here in Norfolk that bamboozle visitors from anywhere.

1) Wymondham - pronounced 'Windham'

2) Costessey - pronounced 'Cossey'

3) Stiffkey (a little village near Wells-next-the-sea) - even the locals can't agree on this one.  'Stiffkey' 'Stookey' and 'Stuckey' are all acceptable variations.

and my favourite of the lot:

4) Happisburgh - pronunced 'Hazeborough'.

>> place names here in Norfolk

lol those are quite different to their spellings arent they?
Not quite Norfolk but on the border another one is Wisbech that seems to oft get mispronounced.

Round here Ive seen many a tourist struggle with "Bispham".

I LOVE word things ....and place names are fascinating aren't they .....   I shan't let the cat out of the bag Steph ... but my curiosity got the better of me ..and I know now that it sounds like a place in Cheshire !!!!

One funny item I found whilst searching was a story about someone looking for the Airfield at Lympny they asked a local how it was pronounced, he shrugged his shoulders and said  "Shoreham"

There is a village in France, with he shortest name, possibly in Europe ......    Y    .....   pronounced  EEEE    :)
