Cut huge chunks out of Win XP
« on: July 30, 2007, 08:48:18 PM »

I don't use XP (Yet) but this site explains how it can be slimmed right down:

See also here for the definitive guide to XP and W2K services (and piccys of Kitties  ;)):

Good site - theres tons of rubbish listed on there that you can get rid of.
I started going through it but the rest will have to wait for another day. :)

It's very risky to do that, a lot of programs use the same drivers and if you delete some parts of the operating system that someone thinks is not needed then weeks later you may be thinking why does so and so not work any more !..

The space you save it's not worth the effort.    ;)

The Bold Fortune site makes it very clear what files you can delete and what you need to keep because other programmes might need them.

I somehow think he's a bit obsessive... a very good time waster tho.  Personally I prefer the advice at tweakguides.com.
