just did a btsppedtester but for some reason it wont complete the test but it will tell me what my ip profile is, and this time it said it was 1750kbps

however i just did a speed test at thinkbroadband and my results were as follows...

Date 06/07/10 08:24:26
Speed Down 221.71 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )
Speed Up 376.08 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps )
Port 8095
Server speedtest1.thinkbroadband.com

my router still says its Downstream rate is 2112 kbps though...

oh for an easy life! lol

hello all - ok so i called plusnet and informed them of my new download sync speed (2112) and ip profile (1750) and my pitiful actual download speed (0.2kbps)

the guy on the other end put me on hold for a while then came back and told me they had done some 'tweaks' to the line and i should wait 24hours or so and see what happens....

30 mins later i do another speed test a lo and behold

Date 06/07/10 13:43:33
Speed Down 1456.41 Kbps ( 1.4 Mbps )
Speed Up 375.89 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps )
Port 8095

well that only took approx 3 months to sort out (dont ask)...

now i know 1.5 isnt great but its a dam site better than 0.1!! ;)

well thanks for your help anyway guys hopefully i will be able to take it forward from here - fingers crossed i might even be able to get back to the old glory days of 3.5-4mbps one of these days (well heres hoping...)

thanks again

take care

j

oh and just so people know im fairly sure that it was having a homeplug setup that got me all messed up here to begin with - you know the ones that run your broadband signal through your home power sockets - apparently they can be a nightmare for causing interference which in turn can play havoc with your broadband...

at least that’s my theory anyway

Once again take care and ty

bye
