I have tried to download v7.35 for a Speedtouch 585 v7 using the Kitz link.

However once I use it I am told that the app is incompatible, as it is v8.

Has v7 been withdrawn for whatever reason, or is there another site to download from?

I can only think that you accidentally downloaded the wrong version. The Kitz link takes you to http://dmt.mhilfe.de/ and you can scroll down the page to v7.35 and download it. That file hasn't changed for years.

 I thought that too and went again to site and made sure to click on link by 7.35 for  Vista

It could be browser security stopping you downloading, do you get a yellow bar at the top of the browser?

Or maybe firewall or antivirus if you downloaded it OK, try turning protection off for a few minutes.

forgive my probable ignorance, what with being a D-Link user, but I seem to remember something from round the forums that DMT wasn't compatible with 585v7 Is this the issue, rather than the wrong version ??

DMT works (sort of) with the 585v7, but it doesn't have all the features because these have been removed from the recent firmware.

Tried that and it downloaded to My Dowmloads, ran it and still got message...that version 8.2.23.0.0 was incompatible.

At base of screen it does say "program successfully started for ST....", but when I input admin with router pass word I am also getting connection failed.... wrong name or password.

You and me both. Is it possible that you've downloaded v8.xx at some time, and that's the version which you are trying to run, not the freshly downloaded v7.35?

Not impossible, I suppose, but I've deleted all the resultant exe files and emptied the bin. The various zips in the download folder have been treated likewise. Oddly even so the references to those zips remains visible in Win7 search despite a restart.

A thought: I'm looking for files and folders titled DMT. Should I be looking under other names?

If I understand you correctly, what DMT is telling you is that the firmware version is incompatible.

You need to click on Special > Misc. Options then tick Allow untested firmware versions, then Save and log in.

You have downloaded the correct DMT version.

Ok now! RS seems to do similar, so are there any extras that DMT supplies in relation to ST585?

From the DMT v7 page instructions:-

Later versions of the ST routers (including the TG585v7) may display Bit loading channels, but you will not be able to SNR tweak.

To do this, before you connect DMT to your router, From Special >> Misc.options >> Firmware specific >> tick "allow untested firmware versions".

Theres more info just above it on which ST router versions + subsequent  firmware versions were the last to work fully with DMT and a brief reason why.
