Wednesday 9th Chat
« on: June 09, 2010, 08:07:12 AM »

Good Morning all from a wet grey and cool West Yorkshire.
In case you would be interested I had a hell of a time yesterday' I never got to Leicester! As I had problems recently with the motor I decided to enrol with the RAC as I was going on a longer journey than usual. Good job I did because when I got in site the place where UncleUB hails from the head-gasket blew. ??? At the time I wasn't sure it was the head-gasket so duly rang the RAC and they kindly sent someone out. Now because I had joined that very morning I was only covered for roadside assistance, Anyway the guy topped me off with water and replaced what he thought might be a faulty radiator cap.
As it was now well afternoon I decided to return home, the best decision of the day. I also decided to take the scenic route rather than the motorway. I had only done some 15 miles  when the temperature shot up and I could here the expansion tank bubbling away. As luck would have it I always carry some water with me so after letting the engine cool down for half an hour topped up again. It took most of the water I had. It was at this point I knew there was something really amiss. I couldn't bring myself to ring the RAC again for the same fault I decide to carry on my way. I was now needing some petrol and as luck would have I was passing a Tesco supermarket. Filled up with petrol, water and the spare container of water. Off again only to get some 10 miles or so when the engine overheated again. To cut the story short I had to refill with water I cadged along the way I stopped another 5 times before reaching home.
Boy was I glad to see the door to my house.
To round off the day 10 minutes after I sat down to a meal I looked at my watch and lo and behold it had stopped. I had a very early night in the hope I was safe in my bed.

I hope everyone feels and has a good day.

From a dull and cool Sheffield.  :(

Sorry to here about your motoring woes SS44.It very handy to be in the RAC/AA or whatever, you never know when you need them (immediately in your case)

Have fun with the tour guiding Kate (I hope they are good tippers)  ;D

Nothing much planned here, hopefully this miserable weather will be short lived  :fingers:

Whatever you have planned have a nice day.  :)

Good morning Colin2, Kate, Phil and anyone else who pops in.

What a day you had, Colin! It's no fun at all having the car break down when you're miles from home. I'm glad you got back more or less in one piece. :)

The weather is unsettled here too. Fine and warm at the moment, but heavy rain planned for later on. I had intended to help a friend with some fence work this afternoon, but if it rains I think I'll have to come down with man flu or something. :o

Enjoy your day everyone. :)

You won't rust Eric.  :D

A couple of teaspoons of WD 40 should do the trick  :D

No but Uncy "our" rain is different down this way, it's southerners rain....<sharp intake of breath>, not to be messed with  ;D ;D

Morning everyone,

Colin 2 you certainly had a time of it yesterday, good that you made the decision to return home even if under those circs....hope the repair won't be too costly for you when you get it done.  :o

Look forward to Kate telling us all about the guided tours experience, hope it's fun.

We've got cloud and some sun this morning but as Eric said, rain forecast later...ah well, that's life!

Hope everyone has a good day whatever they are doing, I'm indoors for some crafting today, should be having a blood test but hopefully get that done tomorrow...ouch.

Take care all and keep smiling.
