speedtest.net sanctioned by virgin?
« on: June 08, 2010, 08:09:11 PM »

I just watched a channel 4 news' article on super fast broadband.

As a backdrop, they had what appeared to be a Virgin engineers' van, within which appeared to be an engineer with 'virgin' written on his  jacket.  In the van, he has a rather ancient looking CRT monitor, next to which was a laptop showing what looked an awful lot like speedtest.net.

Regrettably, and despite single stepping frame-by-frame, I was unable to discern what the test result was.

With that encouragement, I just had to try harder (my current TV setup records everything I watch).  It's fuzzy, but looks a bit like 50Mbit download, 1.57 upload.

Crikey, I'm envious now.   I wonder if Virgin went to great lengths for that demo in front of the cameras, only for it to go unappreciated by at least 99% of viewers  :)
