Regular SNR blips
« on: May 17, 2010, 07:26:19 PM »

Hi Folks

I have been monitoring my SNR now for some time and I am beginning to get a feel for the short and longer term variations. However one feature of these patterns puzzles me. I wonder if any of the forum gurus can offer an explanation ?.

I have noticed positive SNR blips of what seem to be amazing regularity. Please refer to my attached chart and note  the positive blips of about 1.5 db at approximately 10 minute intervals.

Has anybody got any possible explanation for this phenomenon !!!

Regards

Hi again RubyHall,

That looks quite horrible and suggests some form of REIN (interference)

Have you read Kit's sections on making improvements and have you looked at your internal wiring

Kind regards,

Hi
Normally an increase in snr margin indicates a drop in noise on the line .So looking at it that way then it suggests that something that is causing some noise is  switching off every 20 minutes or so for   a minute or so  (depends on your sampling rate ) .

Good afternoon,

That's an interesting take on the problem. It's forcing me to take another view on possible causes of the surges.
The important thing is that the stability of the line is not effected.  It continues to be remarkably stable. Long may it continue like that !!!

Cheers
