O2 Home Phone Line Rental

O2 has finally released its home phone line rental today.

It must be bundled with and O2 broadband package.

Pardon me for being a dim wit but O2 line rental charges are no different to BT's. You still need a BT line.
I can't see the advantage in changing, or am I missing something?

£12.50 for unlimited calls and line rental is surely cheaper than BT?

BT unlimited: £4.99 a month plus £11.54 line rental = £16.03
O2 Anytime: £12.50 per month Includes line rental

PS: Be are about to announce their own landline service.

Has anybody yet researched if this is VOIP over their broadband unbundled service or is it a fully unbundled line and broadband service ?

Don't forget some of the Bolt ons BT include for free are chargeable with O2..I get 1571 and caller display included in my BT evening and weekend plan...£11.54 a month(paperless billing)Downside is its a 12 month contract,but saying that I think O2's is a 12 month contract.
So if I add £2.75 to £9.50........£12.25 a month for the same features.(71p worse off)But if I have the anytime calls plan....BT...£11.54 +£4.99 =£16.53.
O2 line rental + anytime calls +caller display and 1571 = £15.25...a saving of £1.28

And free evening calls start at 6pm unlike BT's 7pm.
