Thank you for the heads up on this.

It may be prudent to avoid version 10.52 as there is a dangerous security issue with it.

Opera Software is aware of the issue and are currently preparing a patched version, 10.53, which is at RC1 stage.

I remember what happened last time Opera rushed out a patched up version (10.50 ) which was a disaster........so I will stick with my vesion 10.10 until I see how things go.

I don't know the technicalities of the issue, but it is rated as "highly critical".............see report at  http://secunia.com/advisories/39590/

Solution
Do not browse untrusted web sites of follow links from untrusted sources.

To most users that is common sense, but then you get users who just click on and open everything, just out of curiosity

Secunia are always very quick to notify potential threats (sometimes a bit too demanding??) but I use and like their free software (Secunia Personal Software Inspector)
Secunia PSI is obtainable as a download at  http://secunia.com/vulner...bility_scanning/Personal/).  The program scans your computer and identifies any software weaknesses or missing patches etc and provides a link where possible to obtain the relevant patch from the software supplier.  The program is quite resource hungry if you allow it to load on Startup or if you leave it running in the background.  I find it useful though as a back up just to run a scan once a week.  It is identifying Opera 10.52 as a potential security threat at the moment so I am using Firefox until the patch is released.  :)

Thanks TD.......I had just found it before I read your post....

Everything seems ok since I updated to 10.53  :fingers:

I have been using FF all day and even though it is an excellent browser there is something that lures me back to Opera.I think (imo) it is slightly faster than FF.
