SMS Messaging
« on: July 29, 2007, 01:43:39 PM »

Hi all,

here at home I have real problems with mobile reception when trying to type and send SMS messages. I tend to find reception to receive them though.

Does anyone have any recommendations for websites or software which can be used for SMS? All I want to do is send a message from the computer.

I looked at Yahoo!s SMS thing but it seems to be designed for two-way communication and I am guessing the messages dont appear with your number. It is free though to send messaages.

Thanks.

Depending what network you're on you should be able to send a web text from your mobile provider's webpage, which will appear as if it's come from your phone :)

The only trouble there is it will bill you as normal :(

I registered with O2 many years ago, I can send up to 8 free text messages per month from my PC. My mobile account isn't with O2.

I don't know if they still allow non-customers to do that, but worth a try.

OK, thanks for that. I will have a look on their site. Didn't actually occur to me that the provider might offer such a service  ???

*EDIT*

Found it. Thanks.
