Help with understanding output power / SNMR?
« on: April 10, 2010, 11:41:26 PM »

Hey there,

I had someone post to me a question that I am a bit rusty on, so was keen to hear what you guys thought?

Is the amount of voltage/power from the D-Slam a set value? or is it adjustable?
Does the D-Slam negotiate the voltage during training?

Settings downstream SNR can be done, either at the DSlam or on the home users modem (using something like dmt tools)

Is it possible to set the upstream SNR?

What affect does voltage have on SNR?

----------

There is some protocol that does the autobackoff power when too near, but I can't remember the name.

Cheers!

I have always believed that helpdesks should be there to help.

I retain this preposterous notion despite the commonly held belief that they are there to blindly answer calls.
