The problem i am having is my download rate never goes over 20k, before i was with o2 my line was 13mb and receiving a download rate of between 400kb to 1mb.  Before i changed from o2 i spoke to an operator from bt and they said i would receive the same as o2. Which i didn't believe, but if was getting between 7 & 8mb that would of been ok. But the problem is my download rate of 20k really need improving.

Also i cant use iplayer as it keeps stopping or youtube.

I really hope someone could help!!

It will almost certainly be traffic management or congestion.  :'(

I'd go back to O2 or Be if you can.
If BT promised the same speed as O2 you have a good reason to terminate the contract early if there's a minimum period.

Why did you move?

Hi Sharon,

Unless you've made a typing error, your noise margins look wrong and both are much too high.
If so that suggests some sort of line fault, or you have been making many disconnections

Noise margin (Down/Up)                      16.0 dB / 29.0 dB

Kind regards,
Walter

You left O2 for BT. :silly:

Were you on O2 LLU or their access package

Was on o2 LLC.

No copy, cut and pasted the adsl line status, no not made and disconnections. What should the Noise Margin be?

I don't think there's anything wrong with those noise margin figures (with apologies to Walter). You have a fairly low attenuation (good) and you are connecting at the maximum speed for the service you're on (good) and the noise margin is whatever it needs to be to achieve that maximum speed. The high values of noise margin mean that your connection is in a very healthy state.

If you can't get out of your BT contract on the basis that promises were made which were not fulfilled, then I'm afraid that your only option for improvement is to go into battle with BT to get better throughput from your good quality connection.

On O2 or Be LLU, with optimised wiring you should be nearer 15mbps!

If what you say is correct, basically BT lied to you.  :o

Hi
quote Modulation                                      G.992.1 Annex A
You are on the 8Max package ,and as Roseway  said you are connecting at max speed for your package.
Can you not get on an  adsl2+ (21CN) package ?.
If NOT the BT  are not able to fulfil their contractual obligation.

But of course there is another problem as well

quote Download speedachieved during the test was - 4148 Kbps. the throughput is low(contention)  . What time was this done ?

Hi,

This one done this morning,

Download speedachieved during the test was - 6516 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7000 Kbps

No the adsl2+ (21CN) is not here not sure when it will be have checked the exchange (LVHUN) but no dates as of yet. Just dont understand why bt have put it a 8m when the line is capable of 13m.

BT have said that it takes 14 days from connection b4 it reaches full rate, don't see how that's possible as the my line has been on broadband since 2006.

"Just dont understand why bt have put it a 8m when the line is capable of 13m."

Because
 Modulation                                      G.992.1 Annex A
has an 8M maximum.

"BT have said that it takes 14 days from connection b4 it reaches full rate, don't see how that's possible as the my line has been on broadband since 2006."
A new connection has to re-train which in BT's case takes 14 days.

As you don't have 21CN, then Jeff's point means you ought to be able to escape from BT.
In any case BT should be stopped from mis-selling their outdated products as in your situation.

(Though there are others in a far worse position on long lines that can't benefit very much, if at all, from 21CN.)

Kind regards,
Walter

Hi

BT have NOT connected you to the correct package !!.So it doesn't matter how long you wait.
Your thrughput was an improvement during a less busy period ,this shows that there is contention during busy times . Unfortunately they will just hide behind the "UP to 8Mbps" and basically on the 8 Max connection  this is their take on it
quote : For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.

IF they can't connect you on ADSL2+ then you should bale out ASP.

I'm confused, you've answered your own question.

Just in case you don't understand, Broadband generally has an 8mbps maximum UNLESS it's on ADSL2+.
ADSL2+ requires new equipment in the exchange which BT are doing in conjunction with the 21CN rollout.

O2 (and Be) have presumably done that already in your excahnge so can supply ADSL2+, but BT have NOT yet.
You were connected to O2's own equipment before (known as LLU) but are now connected to BT's older technology.
