Printer problems
« on: July 25, 2007, 07:39:14 PM »

I don't know if this is the right section for this problem but no doubt someone will point me in the right direction if needs be.
I have two PC's sitting together linked by a Dynamode 5-Port 10/100 Switch box. (That's what it says on the front), Mine is the one with the Internet connection with I assume the second works as slave, mine has to be on line for second to be able to connect.
Anyway problem is this, the printer before linking would print double sided, but since linking will not, the box is greyed out. Any thoughts or am I stuck with it?

I've done a bit more investigation and I find that Epson say the printer will not double side print when it is shared, and thats it. It cannot be changed.

I always try to do that Kitz, I know it's often the subject of complaints on many a forum, the number of people who do not have the decency to leave any feedback.  Mine might sometimes take a few days but it gets there in the end....

yes feedback is always good.

Although it may acknowledge if the solution is found -
Even if suggestions didnt make any difference Im sure that most of us would like to know - afterall someone else may have something else that they could suggest that would help.

If theres no feedback then we dont know either way.

The fact that you came back and reported the solution may in fact help some one else in the future with the same problem.
So thanks for that :)

Another thing that has come to light with the printer sharing thing.  When you go into Printer Properties, Printing Preferences, Maintenance, the ink levels are no longer displayed. Again Epson say this is result of the sharing..
Fortunately I have SSC Service Utility and this still displays the ink levels...

i think this epson helpline is getting a bit fishy.

when winME came out, MS invented the WDM which in theory would let your printer share without any restrictions because the bit of windows which does the printing shouldnt know about it being shared at all.

Hmmmm
