Is there a telnet resync command for DG834
« on: March 14, 2010, 08:47:51 PM »

Hi there,

I was wondering if there was a command I could send (via telnet) to force my DG834 to perform a resync. At the moment I cycle the mains power which probably isnt a good idea over the long term. I have a DG834v1 with the latest firmware from DGTeam.  I know I can reboot the router via telnet with "reboot" command but I was wondering if there was a less dramatic way of forcing a resync i.e. another command I could use via telnet.

Peter

P.S. At the moment I find that my DG834 hangs on to the connection even when the SNR margin is bad (-2dB) and the error rate is high (HEC errors). I was thinking of writing a python script to monitor the stats and automatically force the router to resync.

I don't think I've seen a CLI manual for this type of router, which uses the AR7 chipset. If you telnet into it you might find that 'help' gives you a list of commands. With Broadcom based routers (e.g. DG834Gv4) you can use:

adslctl connection down
adslctl connection up

The v1 doesnt use the AR7 chipset. The AR7 didnt start to be used till the v2's. I'll try and track it down for you but i think it was the globalspan/rockwell chip.

No worries, i did a lot of research on the AR7 when it all came out as an issue and I was also under the impression it was AR7 but I was also told it wasnt. It shows the same symptoms but is not AR7.. wierd.

this shows  Netgear DG834(G) (Version 1, 2 and 3 have AR7 Chipset, version 4 has Broadcom chipset)

Here is a link to an image of a v1 board: http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/5886/dg834gintow2.jpg

The chip is the TNETD7300GDU (AR7WRD).
