I had the same issue on a forum some time ago and then found this service > http://www.copyscape.com/  where there is an online checker you can use to look for theft.

They also provide banners here >> http://www.copyscape.com/banners.php?o=f which I found made site owners think twice before copying content,certainly the problems decreased once the banners were displayed.

I have no connection to the site/company other than having used the service myself.

Thank you for the suggestion Adrian.   Most appreciated for you taking the time to mention it.

Ive been using copyscape for a few years now, and they are linked to on the main site.
Last year I also spent a fair bit of time putting new copyright + Intellectual property right links. 

..  and this is an area that I will further be pursuing when Im up to date on a few other things.
