E-card.exe Virus
« on: July 20, 2007, 08:53:09 PM »

Evening All,

Had some reports of a virus circulating recently.  Subject line is "You've received an e-card from a family member".

Some details here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/301202/avoiding_the_ecardexe_virus.html

Anyone else?

Been receiving these for about a week or so now..  all headed from "family member" or "friend" or "school mate" or "colleague" and appearing to come from BlueMountain e-cards.

One I had yesterday even said "neighbour" - yeah like my neighbours are really going to know my email addy  ???

Yes I've been getting them for about a week.

A quick hover over the Sender (revealing the addy) is usually enough for me to bin it.  Besides which, legit ones have the senders name in the subject line anyway.

Annoying though  >:(

I can always send you some of mine if you like.

Talking of spam - dunno whats going on but its a bit quiet this weekend.  Normally I get quite of lot of spam - more so since the domain more popular.. but for some strange reason Ive not had anything at all for the past 2 days.  Which is a bit different from the several hundred per day that I sometimes get.

Only spam I had today is on my PN account..  I was beginning to wonder if it was my hosts mail filters or something but MW filters should be dealing with all my spam.
I was so concerned that perhaps mail had been going astray that I even sent myself a test mail a couple of hours ago with all the usual triggers in it.  ;D

Im not complaining :D
