Good for Opera. I think along the same lines.

Alas, unkyUb, Opera considers Google Toolbar and the like to be a security issue and will not let them function in their browser.

I never thought of that as a reason, but anything that adds to security has got to be good.  :)

Just an Opera query.

when browsing the Marks and Spencer site.I open a link to look at chairs and the image appears, but as soon as I start to scroll down it disappears. Its fine in FF.

Example

http://www.marksandspencer.com/Ashbourne-Recliner/dp/B000U41N2A?ie=UTF8&qid=1266752836&categoryNodeID=43670030&ref=sr_1_3&page=&node=198220031&sr=1-3&mnSBrand=core&rh=

Does something need enabling to be able to view it correctly in Opera.Don't have any similar problems with any other sites.

Try this, unkyUb.

Open  the page and have the chair showing as it should be.
Point the cursor at a blank part of the page and right click.
When the drop down menu appears, go.......edit site preferences>scripting and then take the tick out of the box "enable javascript".
Click ok out of that.

Does that cure the problem ?  :)

Thanks TD,it does leave the image there doing as you say.If you the click the enlaree icon enlarge it opens in another window. Before it was a zoom button

http://www.marksandspencer.com/richContent/B000U41N2A?ie=UTF8&pf_rd_r=028G2FD4B1MWV02NXBV0&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000U41N2A&pf_rd_p=83432367&pf_rd_s=left-3

But the other small thumbnail views at the side are not clickable.

In firefox, when you click the fabric samples at the bottom the chair changes according to what fabric you click.

Hokeydokey.....try this for size... :)

Right click..>edit site preferences>scripting and put the check mark back in the javascript box.

Then, still in site preferences, hit the "network" tab and go down to the "browser identification" menu at the bottom and use the wee arrow to the right to change from "identify as Opera" to " masquerade as Firefox"............

Then, still in site preferences go to the "geberal" tab, go to the encoding group tab and change from "automatic" to "unicode" and in the encoding box select UTF-8 if that has not been already selected.

Click ok out of that. Refresh the page.

Does that do the trick ?

Thanks TD,

Is that mask as Firefox just for that site/will it affect any other sites?

 :clap2:

Any changes made in the tools>preferences will be applied globally but any changes in "edit site preferences" are applied to that site only and the global rules will continue to be applied everywhere else. So in this case, the mask as Firfox applies only to that site and any others where you make a similar tweak.

This is one of the features that make Opera so flexible and by adjusting these preferences on a site by site basis ( if required ) makes it possible to read all but a handful of sites.

Ok, a bit of a fiddle at the time, but once these site preferences are set......they remain so until and if you want to change them.

The only sites where such tweaking will have no effect are the ones authored by Microsoft, such as Hotmail, as Microsoft have made the decision that only IE, FF,and Safari will work for them.

Does Opera have the option to translate foreign websites into English?

I don't think so.... :(

This workaround will work if you have Opera set as your default browser.

Open Opera and call up Google.co.uk and type the URL of the required site into the search bar ( not the address bar ) and hit enter.
That URL should then appear in Google as a succesful search and Google should show alongside it the option to translate. Hit on that and the translation should appear displayed in Opera.
