Blank page could be packet loss?

Did you happen to look at any of the test scripts I wrote the other night.   Particularly the one that calls the server status load.
http://www.kitz.co.uk/sites/test_serverload.php

That should say quite a bit how the server has been performing over the past 1,5 and 15 mins.
Anything less than 16 should be a walk in the park for it and its part idling.

Everything is fine this morning, although earlier I had problems with another forum run on a different server. I don't think it is a problem with your servers Kitz, it seems to be general with varied sites,

Thanks for those results - they look fine and the actual server itself is flying along.
I'd expect each of those tests run in that order to have increased times and all the results are very fast.

>>  I never posted the last one as it is very long.

Yep..   the page is long - but it passes a lot of different SQL queries to lots of different tables and makes the server work hard a wee bit.. the only thing I need to see was that result at the bottom.
If it was busy then it would certainly show up on that page, but its still loading PDQ for the load it will have been put under.
(page load time and server load arent the same - server load is how much pressure its under)

I've not had any issues for a couple of days.

Has anyone experienced the slowdown with a browser other than Firefox 3.6?

Yes, had problems using Opera 10.10

My last post about problems was on 4th. Feb................since then it has been zipping along at top speed.

The problem, for me at least, seemed to occur mainly but not exclusively, in the games section which tend to be comparatively heavy in the use of emoticons, and I noticed that at some times these smileys did appear to be very slow to populate the list. I don't know if they are on the same server as the forums in general or are hosted elsewhere.

I just had an incidence of slow loading at 22:54. I immediately ran the test pages, and the template test took several seconds to respond, but still reported a loading time of 0.0001 secs. The other pages loaded as quickly as normal, and the server load figures were all less than 5.

I just had a complete failure a minute or so ago even with several retries.
Got in after about a minute.  ???

Slow loading and glitchy pages this morning.

Lots of packet loss:

Ping statistics for 188.65.112.30:
    Packets: Sent = 30, Received = 25, Lost = 5 (16% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 29ms, Maximum = 32ms, Average = 29ms

Seeing it too.. its definitely  not the server (which incidentally is one of the fastest in the UK).. I was watching the live server status and  everything is A-OK.
I think its possibly the routing 2 hops before my host.

Need to look into it a bit more.

Rang my hosts, they are going to have a look and ring me back.

Server is fine and no problems, looks like a possible routing issue at (my) hop 7 which is seeing some packet loss.
