Oh I did exactly that oldfogy. I am/was a qualified electronics engineer so I do get the "techie bits". It was still messy though. I don't honestly think its a job for your average consumer - eg I'm damn sure my wife couldn't do it!

Speaking of ink .....a very strange thing has happened ....I have an Epson Stylus D68 Photo Edition and quite a few weeks ago I had the usual pop up telling me my inks were low .....  I continued to print with the existing; two of the boxes were showing nearly empty, the other two still having some in them...so I didn't bother putting in new cartridges.   I have continued to use the same ink since that original 'notice' and in fact I'm printing off a 7 page document as I type this !    I'm now coming to the point !!!!  :D  when my printer status shows the ink boxes (4)  two of them, the pink and the blue, are now showing FULL whilst the yellow and black are almost empty.   I have used compatibles for many years, without obvious problems, and NOW they are refilling themselves  !!!!  :'(
