DG834GT Factory Reset
« on: January 11, 2010, 08:58:25 PM »

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone might know is there a way to do a factory reset on DG834GT other than by using the reset option on the back,  for some reason mine has packed in so I was wondering if you could use a telnet command to do a hard reset  :-\

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I seem to recall if you go to the web interface, then Maintenance >> Backup Settings and there should be a restore to factory default option.

Thanks for the replies much appreciated  :)  So if you use the Erase option in Restore To Factory Default Settings will it do the same thing as pressing the reset button located on the back of the router  :-\

How do you add a thank you or rep note to another members profile  ;D

Cheers

If it was me I would just try it, BUT before doing so I would export the setting from the same page just in case you have not noted them down.

I think you can open the saved settings and read the data from them.

EDIT:

Yes you can open the saved file with Notepad and read the data, it is not in a good format but you could find what you needed.

Well I've just run the web interface "Erase" option and it did exactly as you'd suggested  :) reset the firmware back to the default settings so I can confirm that this method produces the same result as using the reset button on the rear panel  :)

Many thanks for the advice  ;D
