As I'm only able to get 4 Mbps on ADSL, I have
no problem paying the £6 (plus VAT) phoneline tax
if it really
does mean faster speeds for me.
However, I am sceptical that the revenue from this new tax will be channelled into other government spending projects and, once taxes are introduced, they rarely get dumped like for example income tax which was originally introduced by William Pitt the Younger nearly 200 years ago to finance the struggle against Napoleonic France and yet we are still paying it out of our wages
