Landline Duty Consultation

Not sure if it is even worth the effort after all they never listened to the Digital Britain report and did their own thing.

I think you're right - they intend to do it anyway, regardless of the many obvious flaws. But thanks for the link anyway. :)

Don't forget VAT has to be added.

They do it all the time.

Every time you buy petrol or booze you pay Tax on the duty.

As I'm only able to get 4 Mbps on ADSL, I have no problem paying the £6 (plus VAT) phoneline tax if it really does mean faster speeds for me.

However, I am sceptical that the revenue from this new tax will be channelled into other government spending projects and, once taxes are introduced, they rarely get dumped like for example income tax which was originally introduced by William Pitt the Younger nearly 200 years ago to finance the struggle against Napoleonic France and yet we are still paying it out of our wages  :-X
