I think it's your electrons, tickmike. So far it has been working faultlessly and quickly for me.

Had a word with Electrons on go slow !.
It was odd when I first looked at the site this morning at about 10am (As when I when to bed very late the site was still in maintenance mode ) It took about 8 to 10 sec's to load pages, but now its instantaneous after using it a bit.

Perhaps it a bit slow discovering the address of the new server.

Yes that's what I thought, because I use 'smoothwall ' firewall with a proxy server so I should imagine it was uploading the new data.

DNS has to propogate properly around the world and there could still be some catching up to do.
But once whichever DNS servers youre using has been propogated then it should be ok.

The other thing is caching - previously there may have been times when certain pages/items may have been cached and therefore would have appear to have loaded instantly.

Some ISPs use caching servers (web proxies), where they cache certain sites "on behalf of" their customers.  Therefore when you request data from xyz.com then the ISP sends you a copy of what its cached.  If so that could could appear to cause a slight slow down whilst the caching server goes - oh havent got that that one - need to request it.
Theres a several ISPs in the UK that use web proxies so if youre with an ISP that does, then it will be playing catchup today.

Everything appeared to fall down on the kitz subdomains ie forum.kitz.co.uk - unsure why as all other subdomains propogated correctly.
There wasn't anything I could do from here - and it even took mail on the domain out - so mail I was attempting to send to my hosts wasnt getting through either.  Hence a phone call to them in the wee small hours.

As there wasnt anything I could do about it I left it with vidahost to sort out whilst I went to bed.
I cant fault Vidahost who took my out of hours phone call and a special thanks to Dominic on the night shift who even re-opened the forums for me so I didnt have to stay up any longer. (by this time it was about 5am).

Don't think they're sure what/why happened either - got the following mail this am

"cPanel didn't add the kitz.co.uk domain for some reason - possibly due to the newer cPanel version, or perhaps a slightly wonky setting in the old account which caused it to trip up on the transfer."
