@jeff,

It would be helpful to know why that is so.  Has Web Of Trust discovered some malpractice or is it by the nature of the application that it must utilise unsolicited (by the computer user) data transfer ?

Kind regards,
Walter

Hi,
My immediate reaction to their website is that it's a scam to get you to install a keylogger.
It's been around for about a year - as I see posts over on thinkbroadband from Nov 08.
Are we celebrating the fact they've lasted a year?
Cheers,
Peter

Theyve been around for a while and provide stats to the industry.

Most notably their results are used by ISPA to help identify the best UK ISPs.   The ISPA awards are probably considered the most reputable of the awards for an ISP to win.

Overview of technical testing:
Epitiro will test and monitor broadband connections using the isposure™ application

I've installed it in the past and ran it for a few months, but removed it a while ago since the logging feature didnt seem to be working properly and I couldnt always get to see the stats...  yet I knew it was running the tests.
I think it may possibly have been a bug with the sys tray icon.  That may or may not have been fixed now.

Something else that you may or may not be aware of is if you use the thinkbroadband meter, that includes the isposure software.

Its not a keylogger, but it does provide information about your connection to other parties.

You can run TTmeter without it . Its not generally made known but you can uninstall  Iposure and Tbb meter still works .

I was recently contacted by a member of staff from BE, to see if I wanted to join in the tests for this years awards. Originally when I joined BE, I managed to get the "full" 24mb connection, by switching the connection to Fastpath and swapping my master socket to an NTE5 faceplate splitter. Because of this, they wanted me to join the tests. Sadly, I had to downgrade to the 8mb connection due to a change in financial circumstance. I told them this but I am still running the trial for them as my 8mb connection is still pretty good...

Line speed down is usually between 6.95 and 7.05 Mbps!  ;)
