The best video converter on the planet - EVER!
« on: February 02, 2007, 09:48:37 AM »

I've found the best video conversion software I think I've ever seen.

It will convert anything to anything... it's called SUPER (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) and it just works. I can't say enough good about it.

Best thing is, it's free.. and there appears to be no spyware, adware, underware or any other kind of 'ware bundled with it.

Anyway, enough enthusing.. here's the linky.

Thanks Chris, it certainly looks "Interesting" however I think I should mention that it seems a little awkward to download as I think it was 3 different links that I had to go through before finally getting to the actual download link.

Question, please.
When selecting a DVD vob to convert to .avi

Do you only select only the one vob (Video_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB)
or all 4 of them?

Also I have not completed a conversion yet (still active) any idea where it is going to save to?

Yes, I forgot to mention about the awkward downloading thing. I think it's in order to provide maximum Google ad exposure!

VOBs, I've never tried doing those with it ... I would presume you would have to do them individually, but it might be sensible and do them all for you, I really don't know.

As for output, it's going into C:\Program Files\eRightSoft\SUPER\OutPut\ (yes, a little unorthodox I know, and certainly doesn't award it any windows logo certification!)

Thanks Chris,
I have since discovered the output folder.

It has now completed VOB_01
But it is only 19 minutes and 126.318 MB (126 MB)
So unless it re-joins them all later, then a bit more investigation is required.
(But I'm not holding my breath)

The only other problem so far though is the "VAST" amount of resources it is using.
(Good job I have another PC)

But for free, we can't complain.
**********************************

Well it did'nt automatically join the 4 files it made, I had to join them myself.

With converting from .avi to DVD format.
I think I'll be giving it a miss in the future, as it was taking far too long to convert a movie ( cancelled after 3 hours) to or from .avi or .vob

Maybe it has a place somewhere, but not on this PC.
But for free, we can't complain.

coverting .avi files to .vob files on any DVD convertor is going to take a while

usually takes me around 2-3 hours to convert an .avi file at around a size of 1.4Gb

:)

Thanks for the input, but this particular program just was not up-to the grade (In my opinion).

Yes I realise the time some movies take, normally I use Nero to convert .avi to vobs which as you point out takes usually between 2-3 hours. But always willing to try new programs.

For vobs to .avi I normally use DVDx 2.9 which also does a good job, also with a similar time frame.
However on the off-chance of a difficult movie to convert I would use Canopus ProCoder 2, although this usually does the job it always takes "much longer" anything up-to 8 hours, but sometimes it's worth it as a last resort.

Again, thanks for the input, it is appreciate as some people are just not aware of how long it does take to transcode (convert) movies.

AVI DVD Burner 2007 2.25

thats a good program i think for converting and copying in one, i think nero is quite useless because half the time the end product ends up alot out of sync witht he audio.

still does take around 2-3 hours to transcode and that

an 30 mins on top to copy, which if u jus leave on overnight or during the day isnt all so bad   ::)

if u have torrentleech its on there.
http://www.torrentleech.org/details.php?id=41007

otherwise ull probably find it on some old apps websites  :)

Are you saying 30 minutes to burn to DVD ?
If you are, that does not sound right.

Mine only ever take a maximum of 9 minutes for a full and complete DVD, burning at 6 speed, obviously the overhaul time factor is dependent on the speed of your PC (memory and processor etc).

Thanks for link I will check it out, although, as I said I like Nero and get on well with it with very few problems, but always open to investigate new programs.

Obviously depending on which DVD writer and the speed of the disc's will have a impact on the time it takes, but you don't say which speed you normally write at.

DL disc's though will take about 30 minutes if that is what you are using.
