See what speed your neighbour gets...
« on: October 31, 2009, 01:23:06 PM »

Hi all,

This site got a mention in a recent edition of Computeractive: http://www.top10-broadband.co.uk/speedtest/streetstats
You run your own speedtest and see your results, and your neighbours, on a map.

I tried it. The results for my area are quite interesting.
But it didn't seem to post my results permanently on the map.

Cheers,

Peter

So we did. I did a check before posting but somehow didn't notice the other posting.
Note to self - get new specs.
Cheers,

We only have one LLU and that is TalkTalk are they that fast.

When you run the speedtest it's possible to select the wrong supplier from the list.

But there is only BT Max and TalkTalk LLU and I think that TT is only 8Meg.

OK looks like TT do faster:

Speed is important when you're downloading music and films or gaming online.

With our Turbo Boost you'll get up to 24Meg speeds! This means you can download a song in under two seconds, or a whole movie in less than four minutes...so instead of waiting for your downloads, you'll be busy building your families collection to entertain them over the summer.

All these are through addons:

If your family downloads lots of music and films, or if you like to watch your TV online, our Mega Download Boost is definitely for you. It doubles the amount you and your family can download each month to a mighty 80GB - that's enough for every episode ever made of Friends AND Only Fools and Horses!

Someone STOP me, I am thinking if it would be worth changing next year.
