I don't know where you have downloaded dumppo.exe on your hard drive,

Oops

I'll drp it into the C: drive and give it a try.
But as said in last post, once Malwarebytes was taken out of the equation, Standby seemed to work properly.

But this will have to wait until later and I will let yo know.

Sorry it's been so long, (but on my other PC strangely enough I noticed the standby options were all greyed-out, "the one that had problems with the graphics card" then it decided to go belly-up on me again yesterday, but so-far a Image restore seems to have done the trick, I think it may have been a bit of a left-over driver from the previous card ) Plus possibly a faulty IDE connection.

But this is the result of the test, (which is exactly the same on my other PC also)

Admin policy overrides
Min sleep state.................: S1
Max sleep state................: S4 - hibernate
Min video timeout.............: 0
Max video timeout............: -1
Min spindown timeout......: 0
Max spindown timeout.....: -1

When Hibernate or Standby buttons are grey, then removing and  installing the graphic driver  is the first option to try in order to resolve the problem.

Back to dumppo.exe
S1 is your high power consumption standby mode.
So you need to change this to S3.

Open the Windows Command Prompt.
Assuming dumppo.exe in on the root of C, then the instruction to change the sleep mode is:

C:\dumppo.exe admin /ac minsleep=s3
press Enter key

Reboot and ensure the minsleep mode remains at S3.

Some more dumppo options:

 CAP = Capabilities
  PS = Power Supply
  BS = Battery Supply
  ADMIN = Administration
  AC = AC Power Settings
  DC = DC Power Settings
  AC MAXSLEEP=Sx
  AC MINSLEEP=Sx
  where x is the ACPI value (1 & 3)

1. When Hibernate or Standby buttons are grey, then removing and  installing the graphic driver is the first option to try in order to resolve the problem.

2. Back to dumppo.exe
Reboot and ensure the minsleep mode remains at S3.

1. That could have been because what I think was a left-over piece of the old ATI software "causing a conflict"
At the time I just happened to be in msconfig when I noticed the message "ATI waiting to close" & "Nvida waiting to start" (The card was changed from a ATI Radeon to Nvidia) Now that the original problem seems to have been resolved, I think I see another format and re-install happening very soon.

2. RE dumppo.exe
Yes, the settings have been retained, just waiting to see what happens now.
Although I may possibly have to find out which program/s are running in the background that stop it from going into Standby mode "and staying there"

****
Well it's gone went into standby with a power consumption showing as (I'm going to have to say, less than 10watts "because the last digit on my LED readout is faulty and not displaying properly")  :lol:

NO, I take that back, it's just woke up.
I think it will be something I am going to have to live with, at least for the time being.

Thanks for all the advice, it has been much appreciated.

PS:
These 2 problems are on separate PC's, so are not related to one another.
