DMT and D-Link 2640B router
« on: September 10, 2009, 03:44:48 PM »

Someone help please !!!!!

had to have a replacement 2640B from D-Link under warranty.

My old one had v3.06 firmware, and I could use DMT v8.07 with it.

The replacement router has v4 firmware, and DMT can't connect to it, won't accept log on details.. :(

any advice ???

There is an option in the DMTtool menu 'allow untested firmware' (it's a checkbox) which you could try.

Are you able to telnet to the CLI interface?

DMT v8 doesn't appear to have that option available :(

How do I do the telnet bit ?? dont want to appear dim, but this is now pushing the bounds of my knowledge...

quick update - DMT appears to be establishing connection, but it's failing as it recons it's the wrong username or password...both are default "admin", and that's what I'm entering into DMT :(

Thanks for that.

Bit puzzled though as to whats been changed in it...  I'm assuming its auto configured to allow untested firmware?

In case anyone else comes across this problem the thread is here.

Hi

It's a timing issue I think with the DMT software and some firmwares used by D-Link.  The DMT firmware basically types into a Telnet client and it streams the username and password too quickly for it to be registered and accepted.

Regards

As far as I know you need the v8.x version, which you can download from http://dmt.mhilfe.de/

Eric, it's not the normal v8.07 for 4.01 fw, you need the tweaked one :) and unfortunately the link above is no longer active :( BUT I have the tweaked one saved in multiple locations  ;D

sp3c, if you pm me an e-mail address, I can ping a copy over for you. It'll have to be in a Zip file, otherwise a lot of e-mail services will bounce it back as it's an .exe file :)
