Router Timer Problems - Urgent
« on: August 26, 2009, 10:49:53 PM »

I have some important work to be done, and it has to be done tonight, i had it dropped on me very suddenly... somebody elses incompetency becomes my issue all of a sudden...

Anyway, a while ago, a timer was set on my router by another member of my household and it goes off at half 12 every night on the dot... I need to turn this off. Is there any way i can do this from my own computer instead of his? I can't figure it out and it's important, so if anybody could help me, i would be eternally grateful. I don't know what type of router it is unfortunately, so if there's any way i can figure that out if it's required i'm afraid i'll need to be told how to do that too.

Thanks.

Sorry that nobody was around to answer this at the time, but I doubt if anyone could anyway, without knowing what sort of timer it is and what router. I hope you got your work done.

Without knowing which router you have it can be difficult to advise, as so many different routers have different settings
Look on the bottom of the router which should tell you.

Im taking a guess that since youre on sky, you have one of the Sagem routers which they are currently mostly shipping out.

You can access the router remotely from your PC using the url http://192.168.0.1
Default login (which may have been changed) is username= admin, password= sky

Then from the top black tab
> security
From the white tab check each of the sub menus it could well be under schedule

direct url = http://192.168.01/sky_schedule.html

@ Kitz,

A method I use sometimes in unknown circumstances is to do a traceroute which usually confirms the router address.

Kind regards,
Walter

I've used the searching for IP method before... it didn't work this time though. i restored default settings and it didn't work. i guess what i could do is change the router time every night and back every morning. so it never hits half 12... where am i looking for the router exactly?

Different routers have different interfaces so its impossible to tell.

All (default) sky routers are accessed using the same IP -  http://192.168.0.1

I'm not aware that you can do this.  On a router you dont 'set the time'
A router uses something called SNTP which automatically connects to a time server somewhere which keeps your router updated every so often with the correct time.

I dont even ever recall seeing in a sky router anywhere that you can even change which time server that you use... and its likely that this may be hard coded somewhere in their CLI and fixed to their own time server.

What does the label on the base of the router say? - the manufacturer and model number will be there.
