Evening all ,
                     I've just bought a new motherboard and CPU combo (AMD X2 295 + AMD 690V mobo) The CPU comes with 3MB of L2 cache. I was just wandering what is the L2 Cache for. The definition that I know is "memory that the CPU uses to take certain bits of information from the RAM, calculate with it and put it back in RAM" I was wandering is this correct in anyway

Basically, it PROBABLY means that there is a smaller extremely fast cache (L1) then a larger very fast cache (L2) between the processor and memory. (fast vs memory access speed)

Ooh nice I fully understand  So L3 Cache would just be the same again but larger.
